
Michael Corcoran, a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, devoted father of seven, and lifelong lover of Irish music and reading, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on September 17th. Michael was born in the Bronx, New York to Joseph Corcoran and Bridget Mooney, both Irish immigrants. Michael had an adventurous spirit and joined the Air Force in 1951.
His military service, which he always held in high regard, was just one chapter of his remarkable life. Michael was also a passionate investor, spending many hours enjoying the intricacies of the stock market and financial matters, which brought him great personal satisfaction. He was a lifelong learner earning his Bachelor’s degree at age 57 from Wayland Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anne, with whom he shared many joyful years and mother to his seven children. Also, preceded in death by his second spouse Nancy Harris. He is also preceded in death by his son, Michael Jr, who died in July. Despite these losses, Michael continued to embrace life fully, finding joy in his love of Irish music and his ever-expanding library of books.
Michael is survived by his wife, Katherine, who was a constant source of companionship and love in his later years. He is also survived by his six remaining children, Elizabeth, Gerard, Bridget, Noreen Kaneshiro, Martin, and Joan Hansen.
His legacy is one of devotion to both his country and his loved ones, and he will be remembered for his sharp mind, kind heart, and the enduring love he had for the things and people that mattered most to him.
Funeral services will be held October 29th 2pm at Punchbowl Cemetary of the Pacific.
