

Vivian Kwock Ching Leong on January 20, 2014 passed away at the Palolo Chinese Home in Honolulu, Hawaii at age of 89.
Vivian was born September 27, 1924 in Honolulu and a graduate of Mun Lun Chinese Language School and Farrington High. She retired from Hickam Air Force Base as the Secretary to several Commanders of the 1957th Communications Group where she was the first in the 1957th to achieve its major command Air Force Communications Service Award for her exceptional performance as an Executive Assistant. She also achieved many Sustained Superior Performance Awards for her outstanding work. Vivian regularly attended St. Andrew’3s Cathedral until she could no longer do so. Because her parents—William Kun Let (an original founder of the Tan Sing Dramatic Association) and Mary Ngan Wong (a member of the first graduation class of Mun Lun School) Leong—instilled a love for Chinese culture in her, she was also active in Chinese cultural events with long time friend, the late Margaret Young Pang one of which was the Chinese Puppet Troupe that was brought to Hawaii for a special performance.
The oldest of 6 children, Vivian is survived by brother Wallace Lai Wai Leong, sisters Bertha Leong Lee, June Leong Loo (Edmund), nephews Robert Leong (Norine), William Lee, Wesley and Stuart Leong, nieces Moana and Susan Leong, Maryanne Wong (Thomas), as well as 3 grand nephews, 7 grand nieces, 2 great grand nephews and 1 great grand niece. Vivian was preceded in death by her brothers Lawrence Lai Kong and Clarence Lai Sing Leong. She will be missed.
Visitation is at 10:30-11:30 am Sunday at Borthwick mortuary. Service at 11:30. Casual Attire followed by Private Burial.
