

Mrs. Catherine Gallegos Hunnings was born March 21, 1965 in Rosieres En Haye, France to Willie Gallegos and Arlette Prod’Hon. She traded this earthly life for life eternal on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Catherine was educated in Anchorage, Alaska schools and was a 1983 graduate of Bartlett High School. Her passion for technology and children led her to continue her studies at the University of Phoenix, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology Web Management, and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology at Ashford University.
Her child development career began at a Head Start in Anchorage, Alaska and continued at Anderson’s Learning Center in Austin, Texas. Inspired by technology, she worked as a programmer for Artcarved Inc. in Austin, Texas.
After marriage, her love for children education continued as a teacher for special needs children in the Cumberland County, NC school system.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Gallegos and her mother Arlette Gallegos.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, John Hunnings; sons, Steven, Justin, and James Ferrara; brother, Ron Gallegos; sister, Kimberly Powers and husband John Powers; nieces, Heather and Brecken Gallegos, Madeline Powers; nephews, Christopher Gallegos and John Powers III; granddaughters Aeryanna and MacKenzie Ferrara; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A public viewing service will be held 25 August from 9-11 a.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 North Main Street, Hope Mills.
The memorial service will immediately follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the following: American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, National Adrenal Diseases Foundation, or the Lupus Foundation of America.
