

Charles William Arnette, age 83, passed away on June 16, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Wright Arnette, Sr. and Ethel Irene Arnette. He is also preceded in death by his first wife of 19 years, Linda Boaze Arnette; his daughter, Christy Arnette Reagan; his son, Charles (Chuck) William Arnette Jr.; and his brother, Benjamin Arnette.
He is survived by his wife, Toshiko H. Arnette; his stepchildren, Douglas Vaughn and Ginger Vaughn; his sisters, Judy Arnette and Sheila Wilson; his grandchildren, Akira Barbusano Vaughn, Shannon Arnette, Sarah Arnette, Kelly Spivey, and Amanda Rogers; his nieces and nephews, Sarah Bullard, Chris Wilson, and Kathy Arnette, as well as many beloved family members and friends.
Charles retired honorably from the US Army after 28 years in 1996, serving overseas for over a decade in Germany, South Korea, Iraq during the Gulf War, and Okinawa, Japan. He was decorated with various accolades, including the Kuwait Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.
Charles had a sharp mind, a sarcastic sense of humor, and enjoyed taking cruises with Toko to the Caribbean. Charles loved to tell stories about his adventures in the military and his time as a loan officer in North Carolina. He lived a full life filled with devotion to the people he loved and the country he served.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be dearly missed.
As a proud military veteran, Charles will be laid to rest at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support, attendance at his burial is limited due to cemetery policies. Details where friends and family can gather to pay their respects will be announced in the coming days.
