Claire M Grant

Claire May Grant (Stanhope), age 83, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Born on September 1, 1942, in Piscataquis County, Maine, Claire carried her New England roots with her throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Mary Stanhope; her beloved husband, Harold “Buddy” Grant; her brother, Arthur Stanhope and his wife, Linda; and two of her children, Suzanne Grant and Edward Grant.

Claire is survived by her son, Linwood “Woody” Grant and his partner, Dwight Thaggard; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Rush; her grandchildren, Katie Jones and her husband, Steve, Corey Grant, Tyler Rush; great grandchildren Dylan and Cody Jones. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and creating lasting memories on family trips, moments that will remembered and cherished forever.

Claire dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a CNA. Her work reflected her natural compassion and steady strength, and she took pride in helping those in need.

She had a love for eagles, country music, and a cold Diet Pepsi. She often summed up life in her own simple, steadfast way: “Another day, another dollar.” A heartfelt thank you to all the special staff at Fayetteville Manor for the exceptional care they provided over the last years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
