Dorothy Jean Harris

Dorothy Jean Harris was born on January 28, 1939, and passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 87. She will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who had the privilege to know her.

Those closest to her knew a woman who met life with steady determination and a generous spirit—someone whose loyalty ran deep, whose kindness was freely given, and whose quiet humor could bring lightness to ordinary moments. In both everyday responsibilities and the care she showed others, Dorothy carried herself with a strength that did not seek attention, only the good of the people she loved.

Dorothy found simple joys in coloring and playing cards, and she was happiest when surrounded by family. Time spent together—talking, laughing, and sharing the comfort of familiar company—was where her warmth was most felt and her devotion most clearly seen.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Barbara Harris, Daniel Harris, Diana Parham, Billy Jo McGrain, James Harris, and Paul Harris; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dot’s granddaughter, Rebeccah Harris, for her love and devotion throughout the years that she cared for Dot.

Dot’s life was marked by steadfast love, faithful presence, and a spirit that will be carried forward in the many lives she touched. She will be dearly missed and respectfully remembered.
