He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Creasey Proctor Masonic Lodge, York and Scottish Rite, and Sudan Temple.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his daughter, Cynthia Surles and husband Jimmie; son, Darrell Hofer and wife Nancy; two grandchildren, Rhonda Young and husband Kenneth Brandon Young, and Nicole Surles; two great-grandchildren, Kenneth Brandon Young, Jr. and Ashton Lee Young; brother, Orville Hofer; and two sisters, Connie and Verona Hofer.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at Reeves Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Lafayette Memorial Park with Masonic grave rites and full military honors.
