Helen Ruth McCarty

She was born to Clayton and Grace Euliss on July 2, 1939 in Snow Camp, NC. In 1956 she met and married the love of her life, James H. McCarty.

Helen was an expert at water coloring and painting. She loved to travel, spend time with her family and friends, and volunteer in her community. She was actively involved with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for over ten years. During this time, Helen was awarded the Award of Merit, the highest honor given to volunteers.

Helen was a military wife and supported her husband in all his endeavors.

She is survived by James and their five children: Theresa McCarty Sparks, James Michael McCarty, Mark Erin McCarty, Shawn McCarty Jackson, and April McCarty Fiske. Helen is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family received friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2012 at Main Post Chapel on Ft. Bragg.

She was laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Helen was loved and will be greatl ymissed by all who knew her.
