
John Kenneth “JK” Adcox Jr., was surrounded by his family and close friends in Wilmington, NC when he left peacefully to be with his eternal father on April 24th, 2015. JK was the oldest son of Callie Beasley & John Kenneth Adcox Sr. and was born in Dunn, NC February 1st, 1934. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Railway Express Agency and Holsum Bakery. His idea of the perfect day is gospel music playing at the beach pier surrounded by friends and family while eating a Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie. He is survived by loving wife of 31 years, Vickie Barefoot Adcox, his daughter Kelli Adcox, son Kenneth Adcox, and their dogs Chance, Westin and grand-dog Cooper of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by his first son, Kenneth Anthony “Tony” Adcox of Wade, first daughter Kathy Adcox Blanton of Fayetteville, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, his sister Dorothy Honeycutt Moore of Benson, and a brother James Lee Adcox of Indianapolis, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his sisters Elaine A. Mangum and Jewel Lynn, his first wife Shirley B. Adcox, his son Michael Lee, and his infant daughter Linda Carroll. A Visitation will be held at 2PM on Sunday April 26th and a Funeral Service at 3PM at Long Branch PFWB Church in Dunn, NC with Dr. Elvin Butts officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of John Kenneth Adcox Jr. Arrangements are by Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn.
