John was born on November 5, 1945 in Harnett County the son of the late John Ballance Butler and Juanita Mozelle Ryals Butler and is preceded in death by a sister, Vera Jernigan.
He retired from Central Prison Hospital with 25 years of service as a Registered Nurse.
He is survived by sons: Lee Butler and Brian Butler; a brother: Dewey R. Butler & (wife) Dianne of Benson, NC; and a sister: Debra Warren of Godwin, N.C.
