

Kenneth was born in Lumberton, NC, to Ollie Mae Moore Short and Lavander David Short. He was the youngest of six and lovingly known as a "mama’s boy." Kenneth grew up in St. Pauls, where he met his high school sweetheart, JoAnn, whom he married in 1976.
He worked as a Dental Lab Technician for 22 years and was highly skilled with his hands, creating furniture, stained glass lamps, and jewelry. Kenneth was also the chef of the family, known for his specialty in baking bread. He had a deep love for classic cars, NASCAR, and animals. Kenneth enjoyed fishing and camping with his son, Lee, when Lee was a young boy, as well as spending time with his family and friends. He deeply loved his wife, JoAnn; their marriage spanned 48 wonderful years. Kenneth was known for his caring nature and his willingness to help anyone in need.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Lavander, as well as his older brother, James David Short. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Short; his son, Daniel "Lee" Short; his daughter, Hanna Short; his brothers, Charles Thomas "Tommy" Short and Robert "Bob" Clifton Short; and his two sisters, Mary Elizabeth James and Imogene "Emma" Ripps.
A visitation will be held for Kenneth on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 North Main Street, Hope Mills, NC 28348. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
