Martha Branham

Born May 3, 1938, Martha grew up on a farm in rural South Carolina and was next to the youngest of seven children. She was very close with her siblings, a bond that remained an enduring part of her life and character.

Martha married Lewis Branham in 1956. Together they had five children, and in 1964 they moved from Columbia, South Carolina to North Carolina, where she raised her family alongside Lewis. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lewis Branham; her sons, Dennis Branham and Lewis Russell Branham; her parents,George and Kathleen Poe; and her brother, Lacy Poe. She is survived by her children, Wanda Graham and her husband Kim, Susan Williams and her husband Joe, and Troy Branham and his wife Melinda; her grandchildren, Kimberly Russell, Joshua Cantrell, Beth Barnacz, Michele Branham Jones, Heather Coffman, Rebecca Graham, Nicholas Williams; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; her daughter in law, Becky Branham; and her siblings, Leon Poe, Olin Poe, Anne Patterson, Iris Breakfield, and Faye Smith, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A member of Friendship Baptist Church and a devout Christian, Martha lived her faith through service. She was very involved in children’s ministries, Bible studies, feeding the homeless, and caring for half the kids in the neighborhood. She also served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader. In quieter moments, she enjoyed crafts and cake decorating, sharing her creativity with family and friends. Above all else, her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Visitation with Family & Friends will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 3232 Davis Street, Hope Mills, NC 28348, on March 9, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at the same location on March 9, 2026, at 12:30 pm. Burial will take place at Cumberland Memorial Gardens, 4509 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, North Carolina, on March 9, 2026.
