Roy Bryant, age 90, passed away on March 27, 2026. Born May 15, 1935, Roy was the son of Herman and Kallie Bryant. A loner by nature and pensive in spirit, Roy lived life quietly, with a steady presence that spoke more through reflection than through words.
In his early years, Roy worked on the family cotton farm alongside his parents and among eight siblings, learning the value of hard work and perseverance from the land and the people who depended on it.
Roy later devoted 25 years of faithful service to Erwin Mills, where he worked until his retirement. His life was marked by consistency and endurance—qualities that defined him both in work and in the way he carried himself day to day.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Kallie Bryant, and his brother, Johnny Bryant. He is survived by his nephews Ricky Bryant and his wife Teresa, Johnny W. Bryant and his wife Marisha, Timothy Bryant and his wife Kelly; his niece, Shirley Irrizarry and her husband Richard; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In the quieter moments that suited him best, Roy loved to sit on his porch and watch the world pass by. He was a deep thinker who found comfort in stillness and routine. He dearly loved his dog, Jada—his best friend and constant companion. Roy also enjoyed his chewing tobacco, a familiar habit that was simply part of who he was.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on April 1, 2026, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 290 Red Hill Church Road, Dunn, NC.
