With a heart full of love and a spirit that radiated warmth, Sybil Mary Ifill was the heart and soul of our family. She was born on December 5, 1938, in Trinidad and Tobago to her parents, Hilda and Vivian Rudolpho. From a young age, she embraced the joy of her culture, falling in love with the sweet sounds of steel pan music and celebrating life at carnival—traditions that brought her so much happiness and stayed with her throughout the years. She loved tending to her rose bushes that moved across the country with her wherever she went.
She built a beautiful life rooted in love, kindness, and devotion to those she cared for. For over 35 years, she worked at Saint James Hospital in New Jersey, where she touched countless lives with her gentle care and compassion. Her greatest joy, above all else, was her family.
She met her husband, Horace Ifill while dancing the night away in her 20s. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her five children: Debra Hall, Sandra Ifill, Calvin Ifill, David Ifill, and Kelly Ifill. Her love knew no bounds when it came to her grandchildren—Michael Hall, Jennifer Hall, Justin Ifill, Lindsey Ifill, Sasha Ifill, Kelly Ifill, Pearlette Ifill, and Leon Ifill, and eight great-grandchildren—each of whom she cherished deeply. To them she was more than just a grandmother, she was our beloved Gran Gran. Her home was always filled with laughter, the aroma of home cooking, and the comforting embrace of her energy.
Her wisdom, kindness, and everlasting love will forever live in our hearts. Though she is no longer with us, her love surrounds us still, woven into the fabric of our family. As we celebrate her beautiful life, we hold onto the memories she gifted us—memories of warmth, joy, and a love that will never fade.
Rest peacefully, our precious Sybil Mary Ifill. Though you are no longer here in body, your soul lives on in the hearts of all who knew you, and your love will never fade.
