Mildred Stubbs. Darius met and married Glenda Adkisson Stubbs in 1956. She preceded him in death in
2003. After Glenda’s death, Darius met and married Sylvia Hampton Crain in 2004. They went on to have
16 years of love and adventure traveling and serving together.
Darius was educated at Melbourne, AR. After school he started a career in sales. Darius was past owner
of The Warehouse Office Furniture in El Dorado.
Darius was a true people person. He could start up a conversation with anyone and be genuinely interested in their lives. Even after sickness took over his body, his smile would still light up a room and warm his visitor’s heart.
Family was important to Darius starting with his own two girls and then the grandchildren, but also in the
family he inherited when he married Sylvia. Darius lived out his faith at Wyatt Baptist Church and
countless church members, neighbors, missionaries, and international students have been blessed by his
encouragement and generosity throughout the years. He was a living example of Proverbs 11:25 “A
generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
Darius is survived by his wife Sylvia Stubbs, two daughters, Sheila Elmore (Ralph) and Tena Miller (Steve): one granddaughter, Erin Elmore Carter, two great grandchildren, Will and Aubrey Carter: brothers Arlis Stubbs (Carol), Mac Stubbs (Vena), Gary Stubbs (Jude), and one sister Dona Jo Stroud. Sylvia’s children Jimmy Crain (Sally), Vicki Harmon (Mark), and DeAnne Hegi (Joe) and 16 great grandchildren.
