Dennis James Carmon, 64, of Hot Springs, AR, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of February 4, 2025, with his beloved wife, Gwin, by his side.
Born on July 25, 1960, in Paragould, AR, he was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Ann Carmon; his stepson, Haze Cox of Hot Springs, AR; and his sister, Sherry Cavender of Killeen, TX.
He is survived by his wife, Gwin Carmon of Hot Springs, AR; his stepdaughter, Amy (Brandon) Watson of Bonnerdale, AR; his sister, Linda (Forrest) Person of Harker Heights, TX; and his three brothers, Ricky (Toby) Carmon of Harker Heights, TX, Jimmy (Gail) Carmon of Hot Springs, AR, and Scotty Carmon of Houston, TX. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brayden Watson, Hunter Watson, and Keithan Cox, all of Hot Springs, AR, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Dennis was a master carpenter, known by the nickname "Hammer," a tribute to his early days as a roofer. He wielded his hammer with the precision of an artist and the strength of a seasoned craftsman. His life mirrored that of a bull rider—filled with challenges, yet he faced each one head-on, overcoming struggles with the unwavering support of his family and friends in AA. With fourteen years of sobriety, he carried his accomplishment with quiet pride and deep humility.
Dennis found joy in rodeos, hunting, and, above all, time spent with family. He cherished passing down wisdom to his grandchildren, often starting with his signature phrase, "Well, Bubba." Though his ride here is over, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 12:00pm in the chapel room at Gross Funeral Home. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the service.
