Elmer J. Bates, 81, of Jessieville passed away Monday, October 12, 2015. He was born February 6, 1934 to the late William and Martha Bates. He was a very kind and giving man and he loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one son-in-law.
Elmer is survived by the mother of his children, Jo Ann Bates, one daughter, Cathy West and one son, Johnny Bates, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one brother, Palmer Bates, two sisters, Alvie Noles and Avie Dunnavent and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Gross Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Walnut Grove Community Church with Pastor Roger Harper officiating.
Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
