James Dale Back joined Jesus in heaven on January 11, 2025. Jim was born on February 27, 1943 to Charles and Dorothy Back. Jim was raised by his mother and her new husband, Norman Hall who he considered his dad. Jim graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1961 after which he joined the United States Army. After serving in Vietnam he returned to the states and continued to serve in the Army reserves for 30 years when he retired as a Sergeant Major. Jim loved to learn and while serving in the reserves he received his undergraduate degree from Northern Virginia Community College and Pepperdine University. He then completed his MBA at Central Michigan University. Jim then worked for the United States Federal Government as a Human Resources Manager for the Department of Commerce Inspector General from where he retired after 38 years of dedicated service.
Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, June Back; sister, Donna Trent (Travis); son, Mike Back; daughter, Debbie Kirsch; stepdaughters, Alissa Albinson and Donnette Menges; grandchildren, Marybeth Back, Ashley Back, Dustin Pella (Mikaela), Kay Kirsch, Dr. Lauren Albinson-Robertson (Mike), Rachel Nanak (Matt); two great grandchildren, Riley and Harper Nanak; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Back; his dad, Norman Hall; sisters, Linda Lankford, Sherry Brown, Patty Ammons; his first wife, Marlene Mcandrew Back; and sons-in-laws, Richard Teklinsky and Mark Albinson.
To honor Jim's wishes there will be no funeral service. We invite you to please privately celebrate Jim's memory in your own ways. It was Jim's wish to be cremated and upon his wife's passing have their ashes scattered on Tower Mountain in his hometown of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Because Jim suffered from Agent Orange exposure from his service in Vietnam we ask that those who would like to donate should consider a donation to the Vietnam Veterans organization, https://vva.org/donate on his behalf.
