

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Buford, of Hot Springs, AR. Jan was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and cherished friend, who departed this life on March 26, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on November 20, 1943, and grew up with her two brothers Benny and Mickey surrounded by the warmth and love of the DeLamar and Freeman families.
Jan was a proud member of the graduating class of 1961 from Arkadelphia High School. After graduating high school, she pursued higher education at Henderson State University. She married the love of her life, Ed Buford on August 14, 1965. Together, they built a beautiful life.
Jan had a vibrant spirit and a passion for life. Her summers spent at Lake DeGray were some of her most cherished memories, where she embraced the beauty of nature and created lasting friendships. However, her ultimate joy came when she discovered the freedom and adventure of cruising the seas with her husband.
Together Jan and Ed would have weekly dinner gatherings with friends at Mr. Whiskers. These gatherings were filled with laughter, shared stories, and good food. As a mother, grandmother, and wife, Jan poured her heart into her family. She was the epitome of love and devotion. Her gentle presence and nurturing spirit will be profoundly missed but will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A devout member of the First Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Jan exemplified her faith by traveling with her church community to share God’s word. She touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity, serving as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Jan is survived by her beloved husband, Ed Buford; children Robyn Shapiro (Rob), Rick Buford (Lori), and Randi Eiland (Jay); grandchildren Cooper Shapiro, Keeton Shapiro, Tanner Buford (Ana), Landon Buford, Race Eiland, and Arden Eiland.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Martha Lou DeLamar (Freeman), and her brother Benny DeLamar.
A Visitation will be held at Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs, AR, on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to start at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will follow the service.
