

Davis attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January of 1955. Mr. Davis served as a drill sergeant at Paris Island, South Carolina. His service ended at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for advanced combat training. He was awarded the Marine Rifle Expert Badge (highest-level marksmanship qualification bestowed for demonstrating exceptional proficiency with their rifle). Davis was honorably discharged in 1957.
Mr. Davis worked for his family business at Dixie Culvert Manufacturing Company and The John M. Davis Company. He concluded his business career at Pulaski Bank and Lenders Title Company before retiring to Hot Springs in 1998.
Davis was a champion amateur golfer and an avid wing shooter and fisherman.
Survivors are his two sons, John M. Davis IV and Gene Emerson Davis of Little Rock; a daughter, Dana Davis Smith of Virginia; a brother, George Holmes Davis Sr. of Little Rock, eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
John M. (“Johnny”) Davis loved his country, served it honorably, and died an American patriot.
A private graveside service will be held for his immediate family.
