Larry was a dear friend when I was in high school and bless his heart, he would take us riding Sunday afternoons for hours!  He was the only one with a car, so we would chip in for $.50 worth of gas (We could ride for hours on $.50 worth of gas back then)! And the thrill ride down Water Tank  Hill was a given😊. 
Larry was a dear man, and I regret not being around him since those days-my loss.  I also remember his wife as a beautiful young woman.

I have so many memories of Larry.  When Phillip and I first got married  Larry would always try to keep stuff stirred up.  He loved it when I would get jealous!  It didn’t take me long to figure him out!  He was always there for our family if we needed anything! 

Thanksgiving and Christmas will never be the same.  We always looked forward to breakfast.  Larry made the best gravy in the world! He would always ask us how many eggs we wanted! 

I loved the way he showed Peggy how much he loved her! 

Thanks for raising Phillip to be a good husband and Dad!  You were the best PaPaw!  He was so proud of each of his grandkids and great grand babies! 

He was more like a Dad than my father-in-law. Can’t wait until we get to see him again!

Papaw was a very loving and kind person.  I will miss our lengthy talks over the phone about politics and college football! My favorite memory has to be when we where young, at Christmas time he would always open his Bible and read all the grandkids the Christmas story. Afterwards he would dress up like Santa Clause and try to fool us (I always knew it was him though.)  I have always considered him my hero ever since he pulled me out of Lake Ouachita when I was 6 years old and saved me from drowning after I had fallen off of their houseboat. If it wasn’t for Papaw, I wouldn’t be alive today! I miss him so much, but I know I will see him again in Heaven one day! I love you, Papaw! 

He was the sweetest Papaw I could have ever asked for. I will always remember the warmth of his hugs when  we would leave for AL after a visit. He would always hug me extra tight and long like  he hated to let go. I always knew he loved me! 
He was truly one of a kind.  Heaven is a sweeter place now. I love you, Papaw! 

When I was young I thought the greatest job in the world was to be an auto body mechanic.  That’s because my Dad was the best one that ever lived!
As a boy I drew a picture of my Dad holding a wrench in one hand and a hammer in the other.  The caption read “THE GREATEST BODY MAN IN THE WORLD!”  I can still smell that distinct aroma of paint, bondo and paint thinner that my Dad transferred from the shop to the house.  That scent coupled with the warm smell of Mom cooking supper will never be forgotten.
My Dad’s hands could have been the ‘poster hands’ for any campaign, song or poem ever produced.  They always carried the residue of hard labor and love.
I will never forget the red camping box Dad built that we used on weekend getaways to Lake Ouachita.  It was here that we made memories that appear unexpectedly at random times.  Memories of fishing, swimming, campfires, roasting marshmallows, bacon frying, an old blue canvas tent, the cast aluminum grill, boat rides, learning how to slalom by kicking off a ski, watching Dad ski backwards on his trick skis, casting a Zebco 33 rigged with a Creme purple worm and beaming with admiration and wonder as Dad caught a giant Israeli carp. 

One day Dad brought home the chassis of a car from some bygone automotive era that looked like it was pulled out of the bottom of Lake Hamilton and then left to dry.  The events that transpired over the next year gave rise to the first “transformer vehicle” as from the heap of rust issued forth the dubious “Dune Buggy”.   We would all load up and head out to travel the curvy dirt roads of Jack Mt.

There are memories that are mine and mine alone.  These that I have shared today are only a fraction of many that I could tell if time and space would permit.  

More than a thousand words would only be the beginning…..more than a thousand memories are all bottled up and kept until my time comes to cross over and relive them once again with my Dad on the other shore.  

I LOVE YOU DAD!

Larry was such a great guy.  He always had that big smile on his face.  He was so kind and  patient with me when I would bring my car in for repair.  In our younger years, we had such fun in the young couples Sunday School Class of Central Baptist Church taught by David Verble.  I especially remember the Halloween costume parties.  I'm sure that he and David have already met each other in Heaven.  Peggy and sons, please accept my sincere expression of sympathy.  I know you will miss him very much.  Love to you, Peggy.

I remember Larry as fun-loving and devoted to his family.    He was proud of his family and always had stories to tell and pictures to share of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.    He left behind a legacy of love and faithfulness to God,  his family, and friends.  His life was a true testament of Christianity and showed how God’s grace and love made a huge impact on him and those around him.   We will miss you, Cousin Larry!

Larry was an extra special person to Elston and me.  I am thankful that he was so kind and loving to his mother-in-law, Imogene, who was my older sister.  I will really miss him!

One of my favorite memories of Larry is when he told me he loved Peggy so much that he married her not once but twice!!! He said he could not let her get away!! You could always see the love he had for Peggy everyday!! 

I also loved talking with Larry about his heart transplant because I used to work the doctors that operated on him & I was so happy to hear how happy he was with the care he received! I'll miss you Larry and our talks!! 

We are so sorry to hear of your loss.  I am so thankful I was able to visit with Larry last summer. He was so gracious and helpful to me as he has always been with my mom, Elizabeth.  We pray that your memories will bring you peace and comfort.

Larry was one of the most subtly funny men I’ve ever met. He brought joy with him wherever went. My memories of Larry will always bring a smile to my face. Thanks for the happiness you brought into the world, Larry, may you rest in eternal joy.

I met Uncle Larry when Brandy and I traveled to Arkanses from Illinois, when we came down for Avynell's surgery.  I remember we were in the hospital room when he arrived.  After introducing myself, he was poking fun at me for being a Yankee. Once he found out I liked NASCAR, I seemed to gain huge brownie points, but then he started poking fun at me for being a Jeff Gordon fan (which I wasn't) as I'm sure his thought was I had to like him cause he was a Yankee as well.  Once I told him I liked Mark Martin, I think I won him over.  A few years later, at our wedding, he came up to me at the reception and told me he knew where Brandy and I were staying that night. I just knew he was joking, so I played along, and asked him if he knew where. He replied " The Wheaton Inn".  The look on my face had to have been something, cause he just broke out laughing.  I went to Brandy afterwards and told her about our conversation. 
She reassured me that while he might have known the name of the place, he had no idea where it was. He definitely pulled one over on me.  Since we live in Virginia and Larry in Arkansas, we did not get to visit much. Whenever we were able to get together, it was a pleasure to be around him as he was one of the most jovial people I have ever met.  Rest in Peace Uncle Larry, you will truly be missed. 

 Larry was 12 years old when I joined the Navy for 20 years. We did not see each other much during the 20 years. After I retired and lived in Arkansas for a couple of years we became close and remained close although my family and I moved to Virginia.  For years my son-in-law and I attended the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte NC.  Larry joined us serval times for a long weekend of racing and discussions. I really enjoyed our race time together. Larry and I were of the same political belief and have had some great discussions about our political rivals, which I will miss  greatly.

When we owned our deli, we bought an ice cream machine in Arkansas. When we bought it on eBay, it was stored at an airport. Before we were able to go back and pick it up, the seller was wanting it out of his way.  Larry went to the airport, got the machine, and stored it at his place, having to ask for help to move it. Then, when visiting Phillip and his family in Alabama, Larry hauled the machine from Arkansas to Alabama for us. It saved us another trip to Arkansas. To us, that was a great deed, one we will  always remember. Larry was a very kind person. When we were around him, he showed so much love toward Brittany and Jonathan. Our thoughts and prayers are with his precious family now and in the days ahead. Love to you all,,,

I only met Mr. Burton a couple of times, but I know he was a good man and example by the way his son conducts himself. He raised Philip to take care of his family and to love God. 

 One of my favorite memories with Larry was when we had our sack race at the Burton reunion many years ago.  Larry and I were racing against each other. He made the comment that he was not gonna let some old lady win the race so he began hopping  before we were told and made it to the finish line before me.  He thought that was so funny and laughed and laughed. When I get to heaven, Larry, we are going to have a rematch of that sack race. 

As a young child visiting our Arkansas family I knew I could always count on attention from Uncle Larry.  I would ‘kidnap’ him away from the adults and force him to play - and he did!  He was patient, kind and of course lots of fun.  I love the way he teased and joked, and the stories that he and my dad told about each other as kids, especially him shooting my dad with a B.B. gun!  He had a big heart and a big personality, and I will miss him fiercely.

Uncle Larry was always so funny.  I loved the dynamic he had with his children.  Listening to his old stores always made me be smile.  I also loved the way he loved his wife.  You could see his love for her just by looking a him.  She must have great comfort knowing they will one day be reunited.  He was a well loved man and will be missed.
