Mary Jane Henson

Mary Henson, 89, of Hot Springs, AR, departed this life on October 10, 2015. She was born July 9, 1926 in Wayne County, Illinois. Born Mary Jane McCracken, she was lovingly reared by her parents, Veola (Duke) and Ben Reaugh. One of four sisters, Imogene, Geri, and Lena.

Loving survivors include children: Ben (Donna) Henson, Nancy (J.M.) Harbert, Loretta Thompson; five grandsons: Dutch (Kathy) Harbert, Chad Harbert, Don (Carrie) Thompson, Ben Jr. (Lisa) Henson, and John (Sarah) Henson; nine great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane was a painter of beautiful things, as she saw beauty in everything. She was also a bookkeeper, rancher, gardener, and a sharp bridge player. Her fun-loving and quick wit was contagious to all those around her. A true matriarch of the family, teaching us all the good in life and the right path to choose. She taught us to look toward the light and to trust in the Lord.

Known as “Mama Jane” by her grandchildren, she always said, “I love Jesus so much I can hardly stand it!”

The service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, October 15, at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jonathan Beyer officiating.
