Robert Lawrence Darby, 86, of Hot Springs passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016. He was born in Little Rock on June 20, 1930 to the late Curtis and Wilma Darby. He earned a B.A. degree at Henderson State University and a M.A. degree from San Jose State University. Robert married his high school sweetheart, Doris Lott, in 1953 and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage choosing to raise his family in San Jose for 50 years and eventually retiring to where he grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas with Doris He loved the military and served 5 years in the Army and 20 years in the California Army National Guard as a Captain. He aided in the Northern California floods, the San Francisco riots and helped maintain order during the Los Angeles Watts riots in the sixties. Robert also was a well loved and admired Teacher and Administrator for over 30 years with the Morgan Hill Unified School District, where he was the recipient of many awards, including Teacher of the Year. His loving wife of 62 years, Doris; his children, Rebecca Darby, Steve Darby, Rhonda Darby and Robert K. Darby and his wife Janet Darby and grandchildren, Jessica Gallucci, Vanessa Williams, Jake Darby and Brooke Darby, survives Robert. Funeral services and burial will take place at Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
