With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Ronnie Joe Kling, who left this world on June 1, 2026, at the age of 69. Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, Poppa, son, brother, and friend whose steady presence and warm spirit touched all who knew him.
Born on September 3, 1956, Ronnie grew up with a strong sense of purpose and pride. At the age of 11 he came to live with Clarence “Dad” and Bertha “Mom” Koch in Hot Springs, AR, and attended Fountain Lake Schools where he graduated in 1974 and then went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. During his service, he achieved the rank of SP4, earned the title of Expert Rifleman, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal — accomplishments that reflected his discipline, dedication, and integrity.
Ronnie carried that same work ethic throughout his life. He was known as a hard worker and a man you could count on. Over the years, he worked at Cooper Communities, Sun Bay Resort, Keith Smith, PrimeLine, and CGI. While at CGI, Ronnie’s commitment and character were recognized when he received the Employee of the Month award — a testament to the pride he took in everything he did.
A proud member of the Cherokee Nation, Ronnie held his heritage close to his heart. He valued family above all else and found his greatest joy in the simple, meaningful moments shared with those he loved. Whether casting a line on the water — his favorite pastime — or tending a smoker full of meats while surrounded by laughter and conversation, Ronnie was happiest outdoors with family nearby.
He had a well-known sweet tooth and never turned down a slice of carrot cake, a piece of cherry pie, or anything rich with caramel. But more than sweets, Ronnie cherished the sweetness of life — especially his beloved role as “Poppa” to his precious granddaughter, Everleigh. Being her Poppa was one of his greatest joys and proudest titles.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his father, Rholand Kling; his brother, Ed Church; and his mother-in-law, Johnnie Sue Dixon.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his devoted wife of 33 years, Mrs. Tanyu Kling; his mother, Mrs. Della Mae Story Gordon; his children, Russell Cowart, Kelly Cowart, Dr. Brittanie Kling, and Brandi Meyers (Jordan); his siblings, Betty Kolasch (Mike), Becky Weber (John), Nancy Harvey, Michelle Gordon (Tracy), and Bill Gordon; his father-in-Law, Bobby Dixon; and his brothers-in-law, Tim Dixon (Vivian), Jon Dixon (Jana), and Jeffery Dixon (Stephanie); and many cherished nieces and nephews. His family was his pride, his purpose, and his greatest accomplishment.
Ronnie will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, unwavering dedication, and the way he made everyone feel welcome around his grill or by his side. His life was a life well-lived — rooted in family, service, and love.
