

On the evening of January 24th, 2016, Stanley R. Smith went to be with his Lord. Stanley was 81 years old. Stanley was born in the community of Sunshine, Arkansas on May 24, 1934. He was the fifth son, out of nine siblings (Gerald, Horace, Troy, Lee, Truman, Truett, Gary, and Larry), all of the late Arlie and Jennie Smith. Stanley, a good-humored man who never met a stranger, was a proud Navy veteran and hardworking employee of Coca-Cola Company, who retired after fifty plus years. He was a loving and devoted Christian with strong family values. A man, true to his word, was an avid hunter and loved to farm. Stanley is survived by the love of his life of 63 years, Hazel. His children are Barbara Contreras and Lynn Ray Smith of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Alissa, Matt, Laura, Daniel, Andrea, Kenzie; and 9 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Bruce Fikes, Matt and Daniel Contreras, Tim Smith, Ronnie Brown, and Tony Goodman. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Randy Hill and His Staff, Dr. Bordador, J.W. Hall, Coca-Cola Staff, Tripp Lyle, Brian McElroy, Dustin Kaatz, Brandon Moore, Terry Bates, Ron Hurd, James Ison, Marcus Mitchell, and Stanley’s nephews and nieces. A celebration of Stanley’s life will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 30th, 2016 in the chapel of Gross Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Ison officiating. Burial with United States Navy Honors will immediately follow at Lowe Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday at Gross Funeral Home. People of Stanley’s character should be celebrated, not mourned.-Truman Smith
