Rod’s employment by the National Park Service meant many new adventures as the family was stationed at several locations in New Mexico and Arizona, before being transferred to the Buffalo National River in 1978.
Bill graduated from St. Joe High School in 1982. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville for one year before moving with his parents to Hot Springs.
He has been a surveying technician, CAD technician, and general right-hand man to Ken Spurlin at Arkansas Boundary Surveys for the past several years.
Bill’s quiet nature belied a sharp intelligence, an effortless wit, and a lifelong sense of wonder. This combination was special and shone brightly on those close to him.
Bill is survived by his mother, one daughter Brittany Patterson (David), step-grandson Evan, and sister Karla Araneda (Erick). He is predeceased by his father.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Gross Funeral Home.
