Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church, 5544 N Bayou Black Dr., Gibson, LA. A funeral service celebrating the life of Benson “Hollywood” Allridge will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Saint James Cemetery, 6319 South Bayou Black Dr. Gibson, LA.
God Giveth: On January 26, 1967, Benson “Hollywood” Allridge was born to the union of Isaac, Sr. and Lillie Mae Harding Allridge. To this union, six children were born, and he was the 4th child. During his childhood, he was reared by his parents, assisting in working in the sugarcane field, hunting, trapping, and working in his father’s garden. He attended school in the Terrebonne Parish School District, where he graduated from H.L. Bourgeois High School.
After he graduated high school, he relocated to Compton, California, where he spent half of his adult life. While in California, he maintained a close relationship with his sister, Sarah Allridge, his aunt, Katie Jupiter, and other relatives and community members from Gibson, LA who all lived in California during his tenure there. With his infectious personality, he connected with so many people and made a lasting impression where it would be hard to forget Hollywood. When he believed his time came to an end in California, he moved back home to Gibson, where he spent the remainder of his life living each day like it was his last, with no regrets. No matter who he came into contact with, he left some sort of an impression where you knew Hollywood was here. Some would say he was just that unique, but others that knew him and his personality would say, “That’s Hollywood!” Hollywood was truly cared for by many up until he answered God’s calling to return home.
God Taketh: On Thursday, May 28, 2026, God called and Hollywood answered, returning home to rest with his Heavenly Father. His love and cherished memories are left with his mother, Lillie Mae Harding Allridge of Gibson, LA; six sisters: Alnetta “Cindy” Allridge, Sarah Allridge, Betty Carvin, Shelia Hanzy, Clara Perkins, and Debra (Jimmie) Owens, all of Gibson, LA; four brothers: Henry Allridge, Sr. (Valerie) of Tallahassee, FL, Isaac II (Katina) and Isaiah (Nataisha) Allridge, both of Gibson, LA, and Isaac Allridge, Jr. of Houma, LA; one brother-in-law: Raymond Moore of Thibodaux, LA; one godmother, Linda Jackson Jones of Houma, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Hollywood was preceded in death by his father, Isaac (Pap) Allridge, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, William, Sr. and Sarah Cross Harding; and Talmage Gant; paternal grandparents, Arthur Allridge and Cora Gates Watson; two sisters, Rosalie Coleman and Vera Moore; two nephews, Andrew Kelly and Derrick Carvin; and four brothers-in-law: James Carvin, Lionel Hanzy, Sr., Verlin Jacobs, and Kenneth Perkins.
