Georgiena (Georgia) "Honey" Jackson Mitchell

Georgiena (Georgia) ""Honey"" Jackson-Mitchell, 92, a native and resident of Terrebonne Parish, died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at New Rising Sun Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by: four sons, Earl Ray Mitchell Sr. and wife Freddie Mae, Larry Mitchell and wife Gloria, Don Craig Mitchell and wife Patsy, and the Rev. Gregory Bruce Mitchell and wife Gwendolyn; five daughters, Emelda M. Stringer, Susanne M. Harris and husband Nolan, Jr., Arlene Mitchell, Valerie Mitchell, and Dr. Veronica M. Thomas; one brother, Willard Jackson; three sisters, Rosa Wallace, Francis Hairston, and Irene Williams; thirty-three grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; and sixteen great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her huband, Joshua Mitchell, Jr.; her parents, Jeff and Cecile Watson-Jackson; four grandchildren, Paris Celestine, Joshua Jemall Mitchell, Gregory B. Mitchell, Jr., and Quentin McGuin; two great-grandchildren, Tyus Pierre and Joshua D. Mitchell; three brothers, John G. Jackson, Sr., Ulysses R. Jackson, and the Rev. Jeff Jackson, Jr.; sisters, Martha Anita Lockett and Cecile Jackson. Jones Funeral Home of Houma in charge of arrangements.
