John 13:34
Sis. Janie P. “Ms. Wag” Wagner departed this life peacefully on, November 23, 2025 at Terrebonne General Medical Center surrounded by her family after a short illness. Born on February 25, 1954 in New Orleans, La to the late Rosemary Parker Thomas and Irving “Doot” Thomas, Sr., She was reared by her Grandmother Viola Newton Parker. She lived a life marked with generosity, devotion, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful.
Ms. Wag was a natural nurturer; she had a gift for making everyone feel loved. In her home, her kitchen was the heart of every gathering as it was filled with the aromas of her home-cooked meals. Her home was also filled with the sound of laughter, and the warmth that only she could create. Cooking was one of her love languages, and she shared it generously with anyone who came through her door.
She was baptized at an early age at The Residence Baptist Church. She later joined The Dularge Community Baptist Church under the leadership of The Late Dr. Gilbert Raymond Parker, Sr. where she served on The Deaconess Board for many years until her health started failing.
Family was her greatest joy. Whether she was hosting holiday dinners, sharing stories around the table, or spending quiet afternoons with those she cherished most, she created a legacy of love that will continue through generations. She had a remarkable ability to make ordinary moments special, simply by being present.
Janie is survived by her loving husband, Allen P. Wagner Sr.; children, Kimberly R. Wagner and Allen (Hope) Wagner, Jr.; 8 grandchildren: Quanisha (Josue) Reyes-Rivera, Laquan Wagner, Trey Nevis, Shawn Thomas Wagner, Jakari Wagner, Jasshai Moore, Amerie Brown, Tyrelle Thibodeaux, and Clyde Outley; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters- Wanda Diggs and Shelita Thomas Norman; 5 brothers- Irvin (Elma)Thomas, Jr, Wilbert Thomas, Woodrow Thomas, Gilbert Parker and Thomas (Ava) Parker; 6 godchildren and all those who were blessed to call her “family” and a “friend”.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rosemary Parker Thomas and Irving “Doot” Thomas, Sr; one great-grandchild Mia Denise Reyes-Rivera; two sisters Elouise Thibodeaux and Angelina Allen.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that the love she poured into others will live on in the traditions she created, the meals she taught us to make, and the memories we will forever hold close.
