

Leonard Queen departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at his home in Bayou Blue, Louisiana, at the age of 71. He was a native of Thibodaux and a resident of Bayou Blue.
Leonard Queen was born to Effie Woods Queen and Louis Queen Jr as the eighth child on January 29, 1953, in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
Leonard enjoyed working with his hands to include tinkering with cars and woodworking. He served in the United States Army from 1974 to his retirement as a Sergeant First Class in 1994. During his last years in the Army, he served under the Recruiting Battalion in Wilmington, Delaware.
Leonard leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Joann Poindexter Queen, one daughter, Danielle Queen, and one son, Leonard J. Queen. He leaves two grandchildren, Elliotte Starr Queen, and Carson Timothy Queen, and four stepchildren: Angela Brown, Roy (Karen) Brown, Dana Brown-Green (Patrick), and Devin (Danielle) Brown. He also leaves behind step-grandchildren. Leonard also leaves to cherish his memories: his brother, Louis Joseph Queen (Cheryl), and his four sisters, Eva Queen Shanklin, Betty Antoine, Effie Louise Price, and Gwendolyn Queen. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews, along with grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and other family and friends.
Leonard was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin Sr, Earnest, and Oliver Queen Sr; grandparents, James and Ida Pierson Woods, Louis Queen Sr, and Dumitile Queen; parents, Effie and Louis Queen Jr; nieces, Joyce Triggs, Barbara Queen, Belinda Queen, Dianne Queen, and Natasha Queen; and a nephew, Alvin Jr. He also precedes in death, his sister-in-law, Eunice Queen, brothers-in-law, Hezekiah Price Jr, Samuel Shanklin, Gilbert Antione.
