Mark "Slick" Anthony Verrett

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Rock of Ages Baptist Church of 1211 Aycock St., Houma, Louisiana. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Ranch Cemetery, Jim Bowie Road, Houma, LA .

Mark Verrett was born July 16, 1976, in Houma, La. to Reneta Calloway Verret and Carlton Verrett Sr. “Slick” as he was more affectionally known as by family and friends, was a person who when you met him for the first time, you saw a genuinely nice person who kept a smile on his face. For many who knew “Slick”, they knew a natural born athlete who excelled in football, basketball and track in high school. Later in life in accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized. Understanding his calling, he joined the Rock of Ages Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Noah Smith Sr.

Memories of Mark will forever remain in the hearts of his family, he is survived by his sisters, Wanda Miller, Tawana Verrett, Armenta Verrett, Alenia Verrett, Gwendolyn Davis, Angela Scott (Jerome), and Kathy Verrett (Jay Wayne): brothers, Bruce Miller, Rashid Shareef, Michael Calloway, Gary Morris, Reginald Verrett and Michael Sims; significant other, Dr. Nedra Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Reneta Calloway and Carlton Verrett Sr., and brothers, Andre Calloway Sr. and Carlton Verrett Jr.
