Melvin "Scholar" Francis

Melvin Francis, age 46, a resident of Morgan City, La., and a native of Patterson, La., died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 4:57 PM at Terrebonne General Hospital. Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Ephesian Baptist Church in Morgan City, La., at 2:00 PM. Scholar leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Dina Lynn Randle Francis of Morgan City, La; two daughters, Dejah Monet Francis and Nadia LaShaye Francis both Morgan City, La; one brother, Stephen (Natassia) Troy Francis of Laguna Niguel, CA; three sisters, Mrs. William (Andrea) Harper of St. Robert, Missouri; Mrs. Alphonse (Carla) Chaney, Mrs. Brian (Stephanie Francis) Turner and Mrs. Timothy (Leslie) Delco all of Patterson, La; his father-in-law, William (Lorena) Randle, Sr., two brothers-in-law, William (Melanie) Randle, Jr., and Brian (Janita) Randle; three sisters-in-law, Ursula Randle (Nicole Bouie), Martha Randle and Tia Randle; two godchildren, Asia Francis and Mariah Howard; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Scholar leaves some very close extended family and devoted friends: Carolyn Edwards, Charles Earl Young, Jr., Perry Wilson, Williams ""69"" Roberson, Sr.
