Reginald E. “Seymore” Stoves, 75, affectionately known as “Cee Mo” to those who loved him most, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of music, devotion, and quiet strength. Reginald was born on September 22, 1950 in Houma, Louisiana.
Reginald was educated in the Terrebonne Parish School System and graduated from Terrebonne High School. His love for music carried him to Grambling State University, where he majored in Music Theory and mastered the trombone—an instrument that became an extension of his spirit.
Reginald later built a long and respected career as an electrical technician with Westinghouse Electric Group Corporation. His work ethic was steady, dependable, and marked by the same precision he brought to every note he played.
In 1978, Reginald met and married the love of his life, Camille “Tina” Frye. Their union was one of partnership, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. Together they raised their son, Dominique Ewal Stoves, and opened their home and hearts to countless children in the community. Caring for kids—his own and everyone else’s—was one of his greatest joys.
Reginald was a faithful member of Howard Third Zion Travelers Baptist Church, where he worshiped with humility and gratitude. His friendships were lifelong and deeply rooted, especially with Glenn Green and Geoni Johnson, who stood by him through every season of life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Camille “Tina” Frye of Houma, LA; his brother, Kenneth Stoves of Houma, LA; his sister, Annette S. Evans Moore of New Orleans, LA; and three cherished grandchildren who brought light to his later years. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will forever hold his memory close.
Reginald is preceded in death by his beloved son, Dominique Stoves; his parents, Samuel and Leola Stoves; maternal grandparents, Susana and Charlie Stoves; paternal grandparents, Noble and Gertrude Smith; brothers, Bertrand Stoves and Edison Stoves; and sister, Ora L. Harding.
A man of gentle humor, musical talent, and a heart big enough to hold an entire community, Reginald will be remembered for the way he made people feel—seen, welcomed, and loved. His trombone may now be silent, but the melody of his life continues in every person he touched.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Jones Funeral Home, 230 S. Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by burial at Woodlawn Ranch Cemetery.
