Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM until Celebration of Life at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at St. Luke Baptist Church 3755 Bayou Black Waterproof, LA with burial following at St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery Durlarge, LA.

Rosie Howard Matthews, born November 16, 1954, to the late Spergon Howard, Jr. and Bertha Mae Beauty Holmes passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness that touched the hearts of everyone in her presence. Born with an innate talent for design, Rosie thrived as an interior designer and wedding coordinator, creating unforgettable moments with her impeccable taste and attention to detail. For twenty years, she dedicated herself as an Admit Tech, showcasing unwavering commitment and compassion in her work. She found immense joy in singing, filling the hearts of those around her with melodious voice. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of her church community, finding solace and strength in her spiritual journey. Rosie's heart was her greatest attribute. Cherishing every moment spent with her family and friends, Rosie was always ready and waiting with a listening ear, a warm hug, or a word of encouragement. Her home was a haven of love and laughter, being a place where everyone felt welcome and cherished.

Rosie leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter; Jharo Matthews; grandchildren; Kwai Price and Jordan Matthews; great grandchildren; Ezle' Spears and Davina Spears; sisters, Shirley (James Clement, Sr.), Bertha (George) Pillot, Senoria (Tommie) Jackson, and Jacquelyn Johnson; brothers,Isaiah S. Holmes, Jr., Rev. Terrance (Tammy) Holmes, and Derek (Ava) Holmes; godchildren, Brittanie Holmes and Deven Jasper, as well as extended family and friends..

Preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Matthews, Sr.; son, Jerome Matthews, Jr.; parents, Spergon Howard, Jr.,and Rev. Isaiah Holmes, Sr. and Bertha Beauty Holmes.
