Sonia Ann Garrett

Sonia Ann Garrett, 42, a resident of New Iberia, LA and native of Franklin, LA, passed away peacefully on Monday February 7, 2022 at 12:12 PM at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport - Community Health Center. 

A walk-through viewing will be observed on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home 1101 Main St. Franklin, LA 70538. (All visitors are asked to adhere to the CDC/local regulations by wearing masks and practicing social distancing). Visitation will resume on Wednesday February 16, 2022 from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 12 Noon at Jones Funeral Home 1101 Main Street Franklin, LA 70538. Burial will follow services in the Perpetual Park Cemetery in Franklin, LA. 

Memories of Sonia will forever remain in the heart of her daughter, Mya Raynell Webster of Lafayette, LA; siblings, Phyllis Garrett Echols of  Georgetown, TX and Leon Raymond Garrett of Lafayette, LA; father, Ray Garrett of Folsom, LA; companion, Larry Austin, Jr. of New Iberia, LA; aunts, Victoria Champion of Franklin, LA, Phyllis Champion of Savannah, GA, and Mary Garrett of Folsom, LA; uncles, Albert (June Ann) Champion, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA, Bruce Garrett, Joseph Garrett, and Sandy Garrett all of Folsom, LA and John Garrett: Portsmouth, VA; paternal grandmother, Lorena Garrett of Folsom, LA and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Sonia was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Champion Garrett; maternal grandparents, Albert Champion, Sr. and Carrie Brown Champion; paternal grandfather, McClendon Garrett; an aunt, Albertine Champion Pierce and uncles, Stanley Champion, Sr., Troy Garrett, Albert Garrett, and Elmo Garrett.
