Wayne Maurice Jones

Wayne Maurice Jones, 51, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Raceland, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 4:50 a.m. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at the church. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Raceland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by: one son, Chance T. Shelby; his mother Sheary Hawkins-Smith; five brothers, Lionel (Clorissa) Epps, Felton (Daisy) Gray, Quincy Lee Gray, Johnell Lawson, and Ezekial (Deondra) Davis; eleven sisters: Lois (John, Sr.) Holiday, Shawn (Stafford) Jeffrey, Emelda Gray, Lou Ida Gray, Annette Gray, Demetrica Gray, April Gray, Willie Mae Bergeron, Jackie (Ulysses) Raymond, Debra (William, Jr.) Wheaton and Christie Davis; goddaughter, Michelle Thompkins; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his father, Ezekial Gray; stepfather, Herman Smith; two brothers, Leroy and Alvin Gray; sister, Aletha Gray-Monroe; maternal grandparents, Isaac, Sr. and Georgiana Jones-Epps and Charles Hawkins, Sr.; maternal great-grandparents, Sam and Mary Wilson-Jones and Samuel, Sr. and Rebecca Duncan-Hawkins; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gray.
