Willie Tyler Ackins, Jr., 86, a native of Middlesex, VA and a resident of Gibson, LA, died Sunday, November 02,2014 at 1:12 a.m. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Jones Funeral Home of Houma, 6775 West Park Avenue, LA 70364. He is survived by: his companion, Sylvia C. Smith; four sons, Willie Ackins, III, William, Kevin and Maurice Smith; two daughters, Donna Smith and Mercedes Ackins; three sisters, Elaine, Ora and Gertrude Ackins; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his father, Willie Tyler Ackins, Sr.; and sister, Betty Ackins. Jones Funeral Home of Houma in charge of arrangements.
