Augustine Gayle Bush Webb was born November 15, 1950. She was the 9th child of Wilda Gordon Bush and Lewis Elliot Bush, Sr. Upon graduation from Morrow High School in Morrow, Louisiana, she attended Grambling State University where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
She worked faithfully for the IRS for nearly 15 years in the small business department. While working for the IRS she took night classes at St. Thomas University in pursuit of her Master of Business Administration (MBA). She also began a long career at Houston Community College (HCC) where she taught accounting classes and eventually became the Bursar. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2005 and her illness slowly progressed and prevented her from continuing to teach at HCC.
Gayle was one of a kind, with a positive spirit that was so attractive to others that she could strike up a stimulating conversation with anyone who crossed her path. She had a keen sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. Gayle cared deeply for others and was always looking to be supportive to close friends and family. As the 9th child of eleven children she was known as “Peg”. She possessed a witty tongue and a fierce determination to succeed, traits which she inherited from her DAD.
She is preceded in death by her father Lewis Elliott Bush, Sr., her mother Wilda Gordon Bush, her brother Harold C. Bush, and her brother Lewis Elliott Bush, Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her son Jonathan Royce Webb. She is also survived by her siblings Yvonne Dalferes (Edward), Audrey Jean Bush, Maurice Bush (Veraldine), Rose Bush, Renald Bush, Lorraine Peddada (Anantaraman), Patrick Bush (Vicki), Ann Bush, and Edward Bush (Cathy). She leaves behind Aunt Nedia Haydel and Uncles Raymond Gordon and James Gordon in addition to a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
