In 2003, Alan moved to Houston from Oswego, Illinois with his family and, with a welcoming heart, made many new friends. He was an incredibly compassionate and devoted father, husband, brother and friend. In 2010, Alan met Patricia, who would become his loving wife and adventurous travel companion. He majored in computer science at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and was blessed to find a lifelong career as a programmer. Alan was an enthusiastic softball Dad – he never missed the opportunity to cheer for Rose, his talented daughter. Among his many passions, his 1969 Hurst Oldsmobile was one of the greatest – he spent countless hours meticulously rebuilding the powerful muscle car. Lastly, as a Wisconsin native, he was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, and will be buried in his favorite jersey, a gift from his son, Jake.
Alan is survived by his children, Rose and Jakob Mantei; his wife, Patricia Mantei; his sister, Laurie Keihl; his brother, Michael Mantei; and many nieces and nephews.
Though we will no longer have his cheerful smile for comfort and warm hands to hold, Alan will be with us in spirit, and has gone to make his eternal home with his Christ and Maker.
