Alfred Lopez Alvarado

On February 28, 2021, our Heavenly Father called Alfred Lopez Alvarado Sr. home. Always the handyman, there’s no doubt he made sure to inspect the pearly gates before walking through them with St. Peter. Just like he absolutely made sure the tires had the right amount of air before getting in the car to go be reunited with his wife Tina, where she’s been waiting patiently for nearly twenty-one years.

Known to family and friends as Freddy, he was a faithful member of Our Lady of Sorrows community and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He also was a St. Patrick’s Young at Heart member and retired from the U.S. Post Office with over 40 years. An ardent supporter of Houston sports, one could always count on some laughs in that famous Alvarado man cave—sometimes, at the expense of the team they were watching.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents Flavio & Belen Alvarado; sisters Rosie Salinas and Dolores Hernandez. He is survived by his brother Arthur (Sally) sister Liz Ramirez, and half-brother Paul Hernandez; six children, Alfred, Arnold (Carol), Terry, Linda, David, and Roland (Maria); nine grandchildren, Alfred, Tracie, Justin, Lettie, Wesley, Derek, Arianna, Claudia and Sara, as well as an army of great grandchildren, Katalina, Angelina, Savannah, Dominic, Gavin, Milo, Juliana, Olivia, Emilia and Jonathan. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Santos Cuevas, Karl Thomas, Joe Palomares, Roy Sepulveda (Lorraine), Alex Sepulveda (Minnie) and sister-in-law Vera Sepulveda, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Freddy’s family takes comfort in knowing the weather in Heaven never gets cold, the Astros games never have commercials, and Tina’s tamales taste better than ever. Services are as follows: Tuesday, March 23rd, Visitation begins at 5:00 PM @ Funeraria Del Angel Crespo Navigation; Rosary service to follow at 7:00 PM. Wednesday, March 24th, Celebration of Funeral Liturgy begins at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows with burial to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
