

Algernon George Eastman, 93, of Houston, Texas, peacefully transitioned on December 26, 2024. Georgie, as he was affectionately known, was born on November 25, 1931, to George Eastman, Sr., and Lula Robinson in St. Paul's Grenada. He attended the historic Bethel Methodist Church. George attended the Model School in St. Paul’s, Grenada as well the Wesleyan Boys School in St. George’s, Grenada. George was an avid reader and incredibly independent. He embarked on many adventures and retold countless stories of his long and prosperous life. George was a devoted Christian and joined his family as members of Belfort Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Eastman family has served and worshipped there for decades. George became a Master Plumber and Pipe Fitter. Ever the adventurer, George traveled the world for leisure and work throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed spending time with his family and could be found whistling or dancing at any given moment. He also enjoyed sports, including basketball and soccer. George was preceded in death by his parents, George Eastman, Sr. and Lula Robinson; his first wife of forty-nine years, Myrle Eastman; brothers: Terry Eastman, Teddy Eastman, Hugh Eastman, and Archie McMillan; sisters: Jermaine Woodruff and Hilda Eastman. George will be greatly missed by his second wife of 12 years Phillis Joseph Eastman; surviving siblings: Denise Phillips, Dennis Phillip; sisters-in-law, Anita Alleyne, (Lucille Joseph, Sybil Joseph, and Ellen Gibson); brother-in-law, Milton Weekes; seven children: Anne Eastman, Eric Eastman (Cynthia), Anthony Eastman (Olive), Carol Abraham (Estifanos), Cheryl Watkins (Danny, Sr.), Clifford Eastman, and Dr. Ladadriel Eastman; eight grandchildren: Angel Santos (Tina), Chanelle Omiwade (Bennie), Eric Eastman, Jr (Dana), Aaron Eastman (DeShunda), Shameka Eastman, Kelvin Eastman, Kaleb Eastman, Lia Watkins, Danny Watkins, Jr., Jasmine Short (James); numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Algernon George Eastman will be held Friday, January 17, 2025
Viewing from 11AM to 12PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 Broadway St, Houston, TX 77087.
A funeral service will occur Friday, January 17, 2025 from 12PM to 1:30 PM with the committal service
to follow at South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1310 N Main St, Pearland, TX 77581.
