Allen Joseph Schwark was a very special man and will remain in our hearts forever. He was a beautiful being with a strong mind and open heart accepting all. He rarely met a stranger, was always kind and oh how Al loved to make people laugh. He approached all of life with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. His greatest loves were his God, his family and friends, music and woodworking. Al entered the College and Seminary at Notre Dame, leaving 2 years later in 1943 to join the U.S. Navy.
His musical talents brought joy to many. He directed and accompanied church choirs since he was 25. He founded the St. Rose of Lima choir in 1966 and directed it for over 18 years. He currently headed the Ukulele strings which plays at Sheltering Arms and for many years played the piano with the Over the Hill Gang at Tre-Bairds. His choirs sang at both of his daughters’ weddings and he played and he played for his granddaughter Kelley’s wedding.
There were very few things Al could not fix or make. With his woodworking talents, he built toys and furniture for his two girls and added a room to their house in New Orleans. He took great pleasure making toys for his grandchildren. Other beautiful pieces included a pool table, a buffet and a wall to wall entertainment center. His garage is the envy of anyone who sees it.
Al joined his Heavenly Father on April 28, 2012. He has joined his wife Marion in time for their 66th wedding anniversary. He was born on December 22, 1923 in New Orleans, LA. He is survived by his two daughters, Bonnie Lloyd and Janet Pekar; two grandchildren, Kelley Lloyd Davidson and husband Will and Wayne Allen Pekar and wife Sondra. He is blessed with three great-grandchildren, Warren and Madeline Pekar and Jake Davidson.
We love you and thank you for the love, joy and strength you have given each of us. Because of your love, we are able to love well.
