She was also predeceased by four siblings, Patsy, Annie Laurie, Juanita, and J.L. The one love of her life, Rusty, with whom she shared 57 years of an amazing marriage, was taken from her in 1998. Their surviving children and their spouses are Art (Lisa), Mike (Keena), Patsy, Diane (Kevin), and Linda (Jim). These marriages have produced 12 grandchildren and in turn, 15 great-grandchildren.
Those special interests and hobbies, in addition to raising five children, that made her who she was were the amazing needlepoint pieces, her perfected sewing skills, and cooking all of the favorite foods that made family meals so memorable. Her special affection for hummingbirds and butterflies is evident in her handiwork. Now all three have taken flight, but hers is eternal.
The thought of not having a mom in your life anymore is overwhelming, yet the release of pain she endured compensates for our loss. Dad was surely pulling her upwards these past three years but God kept telling him, “Not yet, Rusty.” What a love story! Not only with Dad, but from the love God has for both to unite them once again.
Mom, Gaw-Gaw, “Baby”—those are terms of endearment we are left with here on earth. She will surely get used to the new title, Angel.
