Amelia was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on May 25th, 1968. She went to be with the Lord on April 7th, 2022.
Amelia was a loving and wonderful wife to her husband, Gideon Santoso, and the greatest mom to her daughter, Nathania. For many of her friends and family, she was the go-to person for advice and comfort. Amelia and Gideon met at the youth choir in their hometown church in Jakarta. They were married on December 3rd, 1994 and they are blessed with a daughter, Nathania, that Amelia cherished very much.
Amelia was easily pleased with simple things like eating chocolate, especially dark chocolate. She loved to talk to her friends, including her daughter and best friend, Nathania. Amelia also enjoyed travelling all over the world. Most recently, she celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. She also loved her shoe collection, and her favorite was a Louboutin given to her as a birthday present from her daughter.
Amelia and her family moved to Houston in August 2000 through a relocation with Schlumberger, a company that she had built her career for 25 years. Amelia loved the Lord very much and throughout her years in Houston she continued to be involved in many ministries. In her early years in Houston, Amelia supported a new church in Austin. In those years, Amelia faithfully drove to Austin early in the morning every weekend while her husband was sleeping in the car. She was a keyboard player for the church service and a Sunday school teacher while her husband was leading the service.
In July 2020 she was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer. Yet despite the odds against her, she remained strong and faithful. She never complained and continued to be a source of encouragement to others. She bravely fought to the very end and, like the apostle Paul, she can say with confidence that she had fought the good fight, she had finished the race, and she had kept up the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7).
Amelia is survived by her husband Gideon, daughter Nathania, parents Al and Lorna Hutama, older brothers Sandi (wife Lili) and Michel (wife Wenny), and younger brother Manuel (wife Aliya). She is also survived by her nephews Timothy, Daniel, Nathan, and Melvin.
