Born on October 17, 1957, in Houston, Texas, to Connie White and Sammie Taylor, she was raised in the heart of Houston’s Historic Third Ward community—a neighborhood she cherished deeply throughout her life. The values of faith, family, and resilience that defined Third Ward became the very foundation of who she was.
She was educated in the Houston Independent School District and graduated from Jack Yates High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and cultivated the strength and determination that would guide her in the years to come.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ, beginning a lifelong journey of faith that remained central to her identity. A devout Christian, she later became a member of Fontaine First Baptist Church, where she worshiped occasionally for several decades. Her faith was not only something she professed—it was something she lived, expressed through her kindness, service, and unwavering love for others in her career as a Certified Nurses Assistant.
Left to cherish her memories are 5 Children (Kevin, Connye, Quentin, Tamika, Joshua), 17 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind 7 siblings (Broderick, Charles, Ollye, Desmond, Danny, David, Gregory) and Anthony Bailey, her longtime partner. She also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews to cherish her memory. Her parents and youngest sister, Danita preceded her in death. She enjoyed reading, crafting, getting dressed up, watching crime shows, and cooking for family and friends.
