

She was born in Medellín, Colombia to Ramon Eduardo Araque and Maria Dolores Ruiz. Here, her affinity for teaching began as an early childhood educator and school director. She married her husband, Humberto Rua, on May 27th, 1967 in New York where they lived for 13 years before moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and eventually finding their final home in Richmond, Texas.
Amparo will be remembered for her passion for the Word of God she lovingly instilled in all she did. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her time spent teaching in the church working with parishioners of all ages.
Amparo is survived by her husband, Humberto Rua; her daughter, Ana Maria; her son-in-law, Kenneth Hix; her grandchildren, Marianne (31), Michael (24), Angelica (22), and Christopher (12); her great-grandchild, Ariel Rose (2), and her loving siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Family, friends and others whose lives Amparo touched are invited to Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on September 26, 2019 to reminisce and celebrate the life of Amparo Rua.
A Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM lead by Deacon Leonard of St. Edith Stein Catholic Church.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on September 27, 2019 beginning at 1:00 PM at St. Edith Stein Catholic Church, 3311 N Fry Rd, Katy, Texas 77449. The Christian Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd., Houston, Texas 77077.
