

Angel was born on October 4, 1928 to Epifanio and Petra Lara in Glen Flora, Texas. At the age of 21 on April 15, 1950, he was blessed to marry the love of his life, Rafaela, in Cadereyta, Mexico, and they were blessed to celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary in April 2002, before Rafaela passed away in March 2003.
Angel is survived by his three children and their respective spouses. His daughter, Mary Lara Nowell and her husband, Carlos Nowell; his daughter Virginia Lara Delgado and her husband, Abel Delgado; and his son Jesse Lara and his wife, Sylvia Hernandez Lara. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Angel was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, his loving wife, a brother, two sisters, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law.
Since 1963, he was a very active member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church community, having been one of the original 20 parishioners who petitioned for and established the Spanish Mass at St. Ambrose. He developed many great friendships over the years as an active member of the church’s Men’s Club, the Knights of Columbus (becoming a 4th Degree Knight), the Ushers and the Guadalupana Society. One of his greatest pleasures was assisting the Men’s Club with the weekly Bingo. He also enjoyed assisting the Guadalupana Society in preparing the fajita meat for the Mexican Dinner sales during the annual Church Bazaar and assisting in their annual Church Garage Sale, as well as serving as an Usher at the annual Diocesan Guadalupana Festival.
Family, friends and others whose lives Angel touched are invited to Pat Foley Funeral Home at 1200 34th Street, Houston, Texas 77018 on January 5, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm to bid a final farewell. A Rosary Service will take place at the same venue on January 5, 2026, at 6:30 pm. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for January 6, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd., Houston, Texas 77092
