Angeline Agnes Gurka Liescheski (Angie), age 94, passed away peacefully at her home in the presence of family on Friday, August 22, 2025. She was born on July 12, 1931 in Chappel Hill, Texas, in Washington County. Angie loved her vocation as a homemaker. While her children were in the home, Angie focused her attention on maintaining a loving home. She loved to bake and was known for her delicious tea-ring, homemade bread, scrumptious pie crusts and pecan tarts. Angie spent countless hours crocheting, quilting and creating a variety of homemade trinkets. Her spirit was joyful and maybe just a little bit lovingly cantankerous. Once her four children were married and had moved on to raising their own families, she turned her focus to serving St. Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church where she was a member for over sixty years. She cherished her time spent in prayer and her time spent with her beloved fellow parishioners. As well as arranging unofficial ministries such as an impromptu Stations of the Cross or Rosary, in an official capacity, she served as lector, sang in the choir and was a member and past president of the Seniors Club Go-Getters. She was a blessing.
Angie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Julius Jacob Liescheski; parents, Alex Gurka and Nancy Kaminski Gurka; son-in-law, Lawrence Greenhaw; her precious, gone-too-soon, great-great-grandson, Carter Alberthal; sisters, Margaret and Verna; brothers, Billy, Clemence (June), Valerian (Wally), and Florian. She is survived by her children, Rose Marie Greenhaw, Elizabeth Jackson and husband Mike, Julius Liescheski Jr. and wife, Lucy, Juliana LeVrier and husband, Tim; sisters, Virginia and Ann Marie; brothers, Isidore, Daniel, and Leon; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, Texas 77077.
