She felt very blessed to graduate from Shield of Faith High School in 1937. She took an evangelical trip through East Texas with her friend Hallie Prue shortly thereafter. While Hallie handled the preaching, Mom led the singing for their revival services. Mom later worked for Halliburton Oil Field Services running a parts warehouse during WWII. After marriage and the birth of her two children, she worked part-time at their church, First Assembly of God in Beaumont, Texas. Her life was devoted to her family and church. She cooked, sewed, and served in any way possible with Great Skill.
