Anna Carol was born on December 10, 1937 in Berea, Kentucky. Beginning early in her life, her family traveled extensively, both within the U.S. and overseas because of her father’s employment. Carol graduated from South Fulton High School and attended two years of college at Western Kentucky University.
Carol worked as a secretary to the manager of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India. At a young age, Carol enthusiastically embarked upon a life as a career army wife, raising two children. Carol’s family was stationed at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey where they were introduced to a Bible tape ministry from a church in Houston, Texas. When they retired, they were able to move to Houston and attend that church.
Carol was given the opportunity for several years to work for the Housing Authority of the City of Houston. After Carol’s retirement from the Housing Authority, she and her dear friend, Linda, made it an annual fall tradition to travel and vacation in the hills and mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina.
Anna Carol is preceded in death by her father, John Jackson Wilkey, her mother, Ruth Geraldine Wilkey and grandson, Christopher Sullivan who passed away on October 16, 2021. She is survived by her sister, Sue Catherine Fowler, her daughter, Sharon Rhea Sullivan and her son, Jon Karl Martin. She has three living grandchildren, Steven Sullivan, Heather Sullivan, and Paul Sullivan, as well as three great-grandchildren.
Anna Carol had received Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age and her life was an ever-growing understanding of his words that “Without me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5) and to the song, “He is the Strength of My Life!”
Linda would like to extend her extreme gratitude to nurse Alice Moore with Houston Hospice and Joni Milton and her team at Home Healthcare Services.
